Xin Chun Seafood Steamboat Restaurant

Suppose to date my old friend and treating her for the belated birthday... but she is not free...and ended up with me and my bf going for steamboat. The time is quite late, almost 8pm....and weather is like little bit cold and it just suit for some hot hot soup to warm ourselves.

And we passed by this restaurant and that time the place is packed with lots of customers. We parked our car and trying to search for a table. Lucky there is an empty table and we begin to make our orders. Their service is consider quite fast. All the food is served very soon after we ordered it.

Their own chilies sauce....quite spicy ..

the soup - original & tom yam (both soup is nice but i felt the tomyam is more to the spicy side)

We ordered the set for 2 person (RM 13.50 per person) ...the portion is still ok and quite fresh

Side Dish - Fish ball (RM5)...this is nice!

Side dish - Green vegetable (RM6) ; noodles + egg (included in the set above)

Besides all the above, there are other side dishes you may ordered and for ordering fresh seafood like crabs / prawn, the price is depending...so make sure you check the price before ordering...

p/s: one thing, my bf and I got stomachache in the middle night....steamboat is our last meal for that day...should not be the food there because we saw the food is quite fresh except maybe the vegetable is not clean well or is it the tom yam soup and the chilies sauce...might be too spicy till our stomach not so well...anyone have encounter this before??

A Wet Thai Village

Have you ever wondering away from town ...to a small village beside a fishing pond...haha...This is here Im...I never know this place is that near and so hidden...Dont ask me how they can think of this place for their business but is truth there are quite a number of customers who will drive into the place to have a meal...

This place is so called A Wet Thai Village.Im sure you saw one of their branch in Taman Yulek. They are serving nice Thai cuisine...and for your info, this place is bigger ...as you can see...the word "village"...lol...They build it like a small village...with lots of huts...all the surrounding is mostly like inside a small deep jungle with a big fishing pond beside...

The parking areas....in front of the hut which is also the eating place...

The other part of the eating place...i havent venture into there due to my bro want to have a table near the fishing pond...

eating place beside the fishing pond...it is weird the background have those flats?? haha...do you feel familiar with place le?? hehe...Im sure some might have guess where is here already...

The chosen table ....the view i could see from my table...

They dont served pot of tea...mostly is all need to order individually...my parent just each have a glass of chinese tea (RM0.60).. I saw other cold beverage is standard price (RM4.50)...It will be expensive because we may tend to order more than a glass since we are having spicy food in here...
Kedondong Juice & Ice Honey Lemon (RM4.50 each)

Their menu.....there are actually of lot of variety we can choose.....you should check it yourself...they also do served normal & ala Thai steamboat....maybe next time i gonna to try it..

The pot of rice...quite disappointing because the rice served is already cold...and tend to be harden already.... RM6.40 for 4 person

Siam Steamed Squid with eggs in Thai style (RM25)- the white squid is stuffed with egg and steamed together...lastly pour on the watery gravy or maybe soup..lots of minced garlic and chilies....the gravy/ soup is quite spicy...anyhow, i prefer deep fried squid than this...this style should be works better using a fish...keke..

Pandan Chicken (RM15 for 6 pcs) - this is delicious...the chicken breast meat is marinated well and tender when eating it....but sadly it is just a small piece with a price of RM2.50 per piece...you may feel like not so worth it....haha

Ya Mong Mong / Mango Salad (RM12) - a dish which I always ordered...sliced of mangos mixed with special Thai sauce....sweet and sour the same time with some nuts sprinkled on top and some dried cuttlefish to make the dish more flavouring...

White Tomyam Seafood (RM20) - The soup is quite nice with prawns , squids, fish meat etc....It is a white tom yam...yes..it maintain the same spicyness and sour taste of a normal tom yam....best taken while it is still warm...if not, it might get salty the end...haha

BBQ Fish in Thai style (RM30) - my bro say the whole fish is marinated /cover with salt together and BBQ it till cooked...then when eaten, we will take out the skin and eat the meat inside...for this dish, i think the fish is slightly tasteless..should marinated more...haha...but anyhow, we are given a special thai sauce to dip and eat. The fish is fresh too...

Stir Fry HK Kai Lan with Salted Fish (RM16) - nothing much special about this and i cant get much salted fish in this dish too...so it look more to normal stir fry vegetable with garlic to me

Anyhow, we still quite satisfy with meals...At least we finish all the dish and back home full full...The good thing, i never get bitten by mosquito during the whole course meal...Fyi, im always worry whenever i need to have dinner in a deep place covered with lots of tree...because im very "attracted" to small insects...no ideas why...

Night view....

Damansara Village Steamboat Restaurant

Guess what i had for my last meal in Year 2009? Yes...yes..is steamboat..haha..a fresh and nice steamboat. Suppose i did not plan to go anywhere for countdown and even for a meal. But i received a call from my bf that he will come to fetch me to PJ to join some of his friends gathering meal. How lucky I am...But sad to say it, i dont eat much....because i suspect i ate something not clean in the noon and causing my tummy not well that night. But i will give give face and have a try on this lovely invitation steamboat.

To be honest, i dont really talk much during the gathering....Bet my friends would say dont sounds like my style. I used to be super "kepo". What to do...Most of my bf's friend is Mandarin speaking and my mandarin just so so..Quite slow in talking but i will still smile as i understand what they are talking...haah...anyway, i still enjoy it..

Ok..let's get back to the topic...The restaurant is quite hidden in a housing area...and even my bf also not so familiar with the place and keep wondering, is there really such restaurant inside. Indeed it is available and quite packed when we reached there around 8pm. Inside the restaurant is like a large and spacious with few wooden hut(good for big group gathering) and also some big umbrella seating place... just like the feel like you are out of town .

Around the eating places, there are cages of animals like chicken, duck, live seafood in the aquarium and even turtles..haha...

a snapshot of their toilet...haha...saw the empty pond with a sleeping turtle?? haha..

There are few set of menu we could choose from, either you prefer for a normal standard steamboat or with live seafood as add on items...and we have asked one of the staff there to recommend us.

Below is some of the menu on that day.

Their chili sauce
normally we found such items in original steamboat...fish ball, vegetables, beancurd skins etc...

Giant Clams - all is nicely clean up and taste good...

Abalone Slices...haha...lucky each still have a piece of it..

Mussels - big and juicy...and not to saw, it is nicely clean up so we felt it is safe and hygiene to consume it...

Our big pot...with their special herbal soup -Village Drunken Pot..the soup is a must to try...not oily, added with lots of herbal such as the "kei chi" and chinese wine..which quite suit to make a nice seafood steamboat...

Pot which already put in Flower Crabs, fresh and live Tiger Prawns and Red Snapper Fish...Sorry that i dont have the full meal photo as i was quite busy looking at those guys putting the seafood...(i got help help little so i cant hold the camera to take picture for you all)....And one very surprise thing, the prawn given to us is still alive. They put the prawn in a plate fully covered when served and all of us keep thinking how to put into the hot boiling pot and avoid the prawn from jumping out.......when we put into the pot, it is still "jumping"..so funny...thats the shot which i think i hav missed it...too bad!! And the fish is nicely cut in piece but maintain as a whole body(with the head and tail in) and we just put into the boiling soup.

Steamed Chicken - never know that they can served such a smooth and tender steamed chicken..I think is one of their signature dishes too..

Prawn which has been cooked and ready to eat. Quite big too the prawn..hehe...

For extra, you may order satay from there. We just sat nearby the satay stall..haha..

Staff pouring beer into the tower...

We have ordered a tower of beers(3 large Carlsberg being load into the tower)....the middle of the tower is the ice cubes to maintain the beers stay cold..

We found all the seafood served is quite fresh....We are quite statisfy with the meals. Total bill is around RM360 for 9 persons...(RM40 per person)...Im sure is a nice place for friend gathering and having fresh seafood....Anyone wanna join me?? I have let YC knew about this place. Hope to go there again. She just want to have seafood only...haha...Good news for all seafood lovers..

Bar.B.Q Plaza

Main Entrance

Their mascot....hehe...

I bet whenever you shop inside the 1Utama, you would noticed there are a lot of eating place inside the shopping centre. Usually, whenever i was there, i would take some time to have my lunch there and then i will continue shopping. This time, i have my lunch at the Bar.B.Q Plaza Restaurant. It is actually something like a Thai steamboat style as i saw their funny video advertisement in Thai language which have the green dragon being shown in 1U's tv and also in front of their outlet.

Their BBQ style is slightly same like Korean but around the BBQ gril aka the hot pot, they include a small place to pour the soup. To be honest, the pot is actually not so big enough so dont expect you can boil big item inside it...mostly is vegetable and the vegetable given mostly is all sliced in thin size to fit into the boiling pot..haha..smart for them.

The 2 white pieces as above is the pork lard...haha...This is the 1st time grilling the the pork lard...haha...They have given us 2 small pieces of pork lard as "oil" for our BBQ.Mix all the thing above except the 2 pcs pork lard (lol).....as their special sauce...

Their sauce is quite special. It mixed with their special sweet sauce , cili padi , garlic and squeese of the lime juice. The taste feel like satay sauce but with also some "lemony" taste..quite refreshing when you eat it and it is not spicy at all..maybe not much chilies being put on it.

Our drinks : Chrysanthemum tea(RM2.50) for him . I ordered Green Tea-refillable(RM2.50)

There have few types of set being offer to their customers and i have chosen the Supreme Pork set (RM29.90) which have bacons, chicken breast, pork meat, squids, prawns, udon noodles, thin sliced of vegetables, sliced of tomatoes, carrots etc ....The set is actually quite enough for 2 person....and there are given 2 free bowl of rice too...so me and my bf is quite full too...

So, hows I started my meal?? hehe.......firstly we put the pork lard in the middle of the pot so the pork lard can slowly "melt" into oil. Then we can put all the stuff which can be grilled like the bacon and other meats ... around the pot is the soup base. When we can put the vegetable to be boiled. Dont be greedy and add to much..hehe..The soup is actually very easily to be get "dry" in the pot so we keep adding soup. No worry..the waiter has reserved a small jug of soup beside each table so anytime you can add the soup by yourself.

One thing, make sure all the thing is fully cooked before put into your mouth..haha..That time i dont touch the grilling much because my bf done most of it..so i juz wait to eat and boil so vegetables for him only..haha..One thing, make sure you dip the grilled meat with their special sauce. It will be nicer and yummy...

And, conclusion, you dont even feel smelly after the meal. hehe...Usually we were very scare our body is smelly after the BBQ meal but lucky in here i dont feel much. Maybe we dont BBQ so much item...and we dont get sweaty too..as we are eating in the air-con environement...lol...

So, total damage for our lunch is RM40.82 ( pork set + drinks + wet towel (RM0.60) + 15% service/ tax)
