Xiao Fei Yang Restaurant

Once you heard of this name, you would really know it is something like those china-man restaurant. Inside the decor is quite simple with those chinese antics....but one thing is the air-con. Indeed quite old. When you 1st came in, i think it is still fine but after a while after you have taken ur meal 1/2 way, then you will noticed the place is started to get warm.

To be honest, this steamboat restaurant is not easy to find if you really not so sure the wherebout. Lucky all of us know it as our school is just opposite of the main road. haha...For the parking place, i think if you came in early, you may get a nice place in front of the restaurant. If not, maybe you would not mind to pay money for the parking. But as for me, i parked slightly far but i think still easy to reach there. Not a problem...

Few days ago, i have actually booked a table just in case i worry, there are many customers will be dining there. So when we reached, we have the place is quite quiet due to it is still early. One thing, we are coming in a group of 11persons but we noticed that their table is actually suit for 8-9persons which actually quite small for a big group like us. But no choice, thats all we can have.

After a while, the waitress begins to serve some snacks/ appetisers before we start our "boating"....Actually im not really like the appetisers they are serving as it is tasteless. They have served us with fried peanuts and a plate of mixed vegetable taufu...The taufu is really not nice. None of us like it.

The sauce is actually quite nice. We like the one in dark color. I think is something like fried garlic. For the white , we think is "fu yu"(fermented beancurd, am i rite?) and the red 1 for sure is blended chilies.

Let see, for the menu, they actually printing it like a list for us to tick and pass to them to prepare it. One thing, better make sure you can speak slightly mandarin...As i found out most of them is speak mandarin. But the menu, there have mandarin and english translated. haha...

And for our orders is like this:

Each table can have a pot of soup where you can choice to have 1 soup base or to have combination of 2 soup base. For us, we sure looking for combination(RM22). So, the soup they have is either a herbal soup or the "ma lak" soup base. From the pic you can really see, they indeed putting lots of ingrediant into the soup to make the soup so tasty. There are garlic, gingers, dry chilies and lots more unknown to me.

We have order few plates of meat sliced such like chicken, mutton and pork.....just take a piece of it and dip into the boiling soup a while and taste it with the sauce.

For your info, the steamboat is not actually a buffet style neither they do offer any set. Usually all the foods will be served in a plate with the price are ranging from RM4 and above. So, we also order few plate of taufu, fishball, meatball, fish noodle, prawn, fish meat, golden mushroom, vegetable....etc...as what we usually will have during steamboat session.

After the dinner is done, we are served with few plate of fruits(watermelon & oranges) which we are quite full that time. We indeed have a nice meal and the staff there is actually quite friendly and nice (even sometimes they are not so understand what we wants).....

This is our bills (in mandarin)....the bill end up with total RM270.60 for 11person.

Revisit : Old Town White Coffee

Im sure everyone would have heard of Old Town White Coffee around your housing area of anywhere. I have been visiting few of their outlets in KL & PJ. And im actually quite enjoying my meal there.

Last Saturday, my bf and I was trying to get on time for his hair cut. We have went to the Old Town at Jusco Balakong. But due to we are still early, we decided to have our breakfast there. Ohh...to our suprise, it just around 1030am but yet the place is quite full already.

So we tried to find a place to sit and we quickly order our meal. I have order their Nasi Lemak Special which is nasi lemak with fried chicken. Actually i very love their nasi lemak there. Is quite tasty. Erm, do you noticed my fried chicken is little bit too small than ordinary?? haha...

My bf had order the Chicken Curry with Sticky Rice. He has the rice very tasty and the curry too. I have scoop few curry gravy to eat together with my nasi lemak....yummy....Both of us share the meals together.

Erm, beside the nasi lemak, their coffee is also very nice. Each of us has ordered a glass of ice coffee since the weather is quite hot. He had the Coffee "gao"..means extra rich taste...while for me is the White Coffee....both also nice and we love it too...

Just check out and have their meal is any outlets which nearby your area..Im sure is actually very easy to find one. You may check out my previous blogs about Old Town for more foods...

Colorful Agar-agar

Erm...Actually i spotted this kind of agar-agar before. And i felt this agar-agar is really nice to see. Somehow it is not cheap and look not easy to do it. It actually takes 1-2 steps more to make it. So, i have decided to try it my own way to make this dessert for my family and bf.

Let see, at 1st i have make 2 different color layer of agar-agar (red + green). My mum dont like us to have too many coloring, so i just make the color light a bit...Lucky she still can accept it. Then i cut the both color of agar-agar in small pieces and pour it into a mould. Just to make sure the agar agar is colorful, i simply toss the cutted agar-agar so you can see both color is mixed up to create a nice contrast.

Then i start making the white layer agar-agar which i have used a can of sweet creamer and which we used to make tea/ coffee. Add in some water and no sugar since the creamer is already sweet. Put about 2-3Tbsp of agar- agar powder and pour into the mixed color cutted agar agar...You will see all the cutted agar agar is floating inside the white layer...

I have put into fridge for 1 day and the next day i cut it again and you can see the cutted colorful agar-agar is in between of the white layer. Yummy!!...I thought it will be too sweet as i hav put whole can of the sweet creamer but is actually not. My bro suggest me to put coconut milk next time but i think is not a good idea as the coconut milk is not so good to our health if taken too much.

Star Village Western Food

Front View

The whole Star Village @ Kota Damansara

Last Sat was my birthday and i have decided to try this western food at Star Village. Actually there are 3 branches for this restaurant which is at OUG, Kuchai Lama and Kota Damansara. So i have headed to the Kota Damansara branch which the theme for decor is beach. Anything which relate to beach will mostly be decorate there. Each branch will hav their own theme. If ever got the chance, i will visit the 3 branches...haha..

View from inside (the middle)

One of the walls

For Kota Damansara, when i go inside the place, it actually quite dark. Some table around the corner is being specially arrange like a hut beside a beach..u can see under your table have lots of stones / sand whereby the top is like a hut made by coconut leaves...But trust me this..at 1st i tot it would be a romantic table but after a while i found out that the corner are quite dark and many mosquito come to bite me...Hey..thats not romantic anymore...haha..so we decide to change our place to middle and which neaby the air-cons...thats better..

Walls nearby the kitchen

Hey, i do check into their washroom but too bad i cant get a shot of it...The washroom is really surprising. A big mirror on the wall which suround with big stones. It is like the mirror is build on a stone wall. All the way to the washroom is placed with wood. Just like a feel in the beach whereby the like a wooden toilet which build beside a beach...There is goggles and stones...im not sure is there any sea shells....coz the place quite dark too.

As for the meal, actually i have checked into their website of what we can have at there. So when we reached, we just make our order. While waiting for the order to come, i simply take a few shot of the place. As you can see, all the photos is quite dark accept for the food/ drink as i have put some flash to make it clearer for you all to see it..

The place is nice for friends gathering..whether the feel is good with a nice love song as background...Too bad there is no beach beside my table...So the orders just served after about 1/2 hours...

The drinks

For the drinks, we have Blackberry Lavendar(left) & Mango, Soursop & Guava(right). I think the Mango, Soursop & Guava(RM6.80) is quite refreshing. For my Blackberry Lavendar(RM6.80), to be honest, the taste is little bit like the medicine..haha....dono how to describe it. But no worry, there are many other choice for the drinks to choose for...

I have ordered Grill Cheese Chicken(RM16.90) - a chicken chop which on top is the ham whereby cheese in the between. And matched with the special sauce. There is also a bun, salads and the french fries there...not bad also...quite full with that dish....Good to be eaten while it is still hot.

My bf had order Honey Lamb(RM19.80) which is highly recomended in the menu(5 thumbs). Haha...his comment...not bad....the meat is nicely done and matched with their sauce. Wonder is it honey sauce or how. I dont even take a bite of it as i seldom eat other meats except for chicken, fish or pork. Same this Honey Lamb is served with the salads and french fries.

Total for the bills is RM52.80 ( added 5% service charges). Still acceptable and guess what, if ladies wear bikini / guys wearing beach pant or shirt to Kota Damasara there, they may have extra discounts le...But when im there, i dont saw any bikini gals too....haha...

One more thing, if you ever pass by the Kota Damansara branch, pls check out the counter there. There is a display box which inside is a bottle of Coca-Cola...and it stated " Believe it or not. This bottle of Coke can cost up to RM500,000.00 ". Inside i saw a straw floating. Erm, isit which prince / rich people drink this Coke before? I dont hav the chance to ask the staff there..

When we stepped out, there is an old car beside the place. i think is one of the decor too. Quite interesting too...suit to drop by with a group of friends or many with loved ones..

Restaurant Kin Kin

After trying the pan mee at Madam Chiam Curry Noodle House, i heard that there is a restaurant in Pandan Indah which also offer this spicy pan mee too. I had finally went there last Sat to try it. Erm, actually the place is not hard to find. It is juz opposite of the Pandan Indah Police Station.

The place look clean with simple decor. No worry, got air-con so it is cooler which is good for lately hot weather. As we taken our seat, we thought we will be present with menu but who know there is no menu but the waitress is quite helpful to let us know what they have. So, my main point here is to have spicy pan mee...So i have order this while my bf had order a normal pan mee soup. We did ask whether they have any size of their mee...And they mention all is standard.

So we just cant wait and after a while, my spicy pan mee is served onto my table. The serving is larger compare the one i ate before. Quite full too.. Nothing much different as a spicy pan mee, the main point is the chilies....i put few spoon on it and try it.. Erm, Kin Kin 's chilies looks more flavouring(little salty) compare the one i ate at Taman Connaught there. Overrall, it make the spicy pan mee quite suit my taste...

Trust me, the serving size is quite standard and even my bf also think is it quite full after eaten the pan mee..I think is something like medium size. Overrall, the bill came in around rm14++(include 2 drinks)...
One more thing, i saw a letter being stick on the wall stating they has been ranked the KL's top 40th restaurant and dining outlets in Time Out Kuala Lumpur Magazine during 2008. I checked online that their main branch is at Jalan TAR which quite packed of people most of the time. Lucky i went to Pandan Indah here.
