Bumbu Bali Restaurant

I have heard of this restaurant before and till now i only be able to dine in here...All thanks to all my friends who has celebrate my early birthday in Bumbu Bali which is a place for Balinese foods...Due to that time we went there, the 2nd floor is under renovation, the ground floor is open for customers only. If the place is fully seated, then the customers has to wait for the table. To be honest, the place is quite hot...One of the reasons is due to no air con(the place is using ceiling fan) and secondly is due to the Malaysia weather lately...quite hot nowadays....

Some of my friends has arrived to the place earlier and make their drink order already. They have order Barley Lime(which can also order by a jug = 5 glasses). We have order 3 jugs that time. My friend say this drink really make her feel good and very suit for the hot weather now.

Other cold beverages include Iced Capucinno & Iced Latte

Im not well, so i cant have any iced drink, so i have choose a hot beverage which is the Earl Grey Tea. Nothing much special but it comes with a piece of small biscuit of nuts.

So, what we have order for a table of 9 persons? Here there are:

Sate Lilit - minced fish/prawn paste wrapped around lemongrass which acts as skewer. I think it is grilled with mix herbs and it is nice to eat.

Tipat Cantuk - Balinese warm vegetable salad with taufu, rice cake(nasi ketupat), prawns and herbs which served with Tamarind Peanut Dressing. The peanut dressing(sauce) is really and sweet. Just like the satay sauce. It is not sipcy at all.

Mixed Green Salad - A mixture of fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, boiled egg, shallots, fried taufu with a spicy lemongrass & Shallet Dressing. Once agian, the sauce which make the different and it is quite refressing to have this meal.

Cumi-cumi Goreng - it is a combo of fried white squid and potatos. The fried squid is very crispy.

Bumbu Bali Trio - a trio of of lemon grass satay stick, fried sotong (squid) and BBQ wings. The 3 accompanying sauces were sambal, lemon grass and mayonnaise.

Nasi Campur Bumbu Bali - Balinese speciality rice served with grilled lemongrass prawns, squid, fish, and beef/ chicken rendang, vegetable(kangkung) with sambal terasi and sambal matah, rempeyek etc. I think this rice set is wonderful as it combine most of the grilled meats /seafoods you really wish to try alltogether in Bumbu Bali. All in one and it is tasty. Erm...no wonder so fast finish by my friends and when reach in front of me, they just left kangkung for me. haha...

Grilled Pasta - You can choose either to have prawns, squid and fish or you may choose from other meats such as grilled chicken, beef, or even vegetable. I think it is nothing different except for the meat which lay on top...it is a nice pasta too with lots of herbs...

Since we are quite full, we have decided to share a dessert which is the Es Campur. Quite "paiseh" when all of us(except me) share the glass of dessert. Es Campur is something like ice blended with coconut milk and mixed with lots of sago , some coconut candies and slices of banana. The comment that my friend given is the drink is too much "santan" which make us scare to have it much as our tummy is really full..lol...

Anyhow, just try it yourself ....

Madam Chiam Curry Noodle House

After watching 阿贤人情味 show, i get to know they are introducing a place for pan mee which just around my area. Haha..my bro told me long time ago and so far i never really been there before. One more thing, since it has been showed in TV, i bet there sure be many people be going there to try.
So last weekend, early in the morning, i drop by there to have a simple breakfast with my bf. For sure i ordered their famous which as introduced in the TV...their Spicy Pan Mee... To be honest, the portion is quite small. haha... Eventhough, i can see that time the shop is not much people since it is still early but yet i have waited more than 1/2 hours just for the meal to serve. Erm, quite disappointing is why their pan mee dont use the original green vegetable which so called "su miu"..instead they put "yin choi"....
Erm, to be honest, the texture of the mee is still ok (little soft & chewy) but overrall the taste of pan mee dont hold any special. Next time, maybe i will try their curry pan mee, which also their speciality there... Just give urself a try...

Kanna Curry House

For those who love Indian food and can eat a lot...I think it should be a good place. Erm, im not sure this place could be so popular and i saw many people walking in to dine in. At 1st, i thought it is like a normal mamak stall but it actually more special.

It served banana leaf rice...Erm...1st time i ate rice with a just a banana leaf instead of a plate. Lucky they still given us fork and spoon.. But some may prefer to eat with their hand.. More tasty lol...

When we get our table, we make our order and they begin to place a piece of a big banana leaf on the table. Then slowly another waiter came and begin to pour the rice. Hey..they really given a lot of rice... Scary...i cant finish it too... Then they given a pot which have 3 type of plain curry gravy (i think is dal curry , fish / chicken curry gravy etc)...and you just pour into your white rice as you wish. Then another waiter came and begin to pour of what we called vegetable....the vegetable they have is cucumbers & onions, potatos etc....

Here is how it look like when everything is served on the banana leaf (RM4.50 )

Side order - prawn curry(RM10)

Beside this, they have other side dishes such as curry(chicken, mutton, prawn etc), fried chicken/ fish/ cuttlefish; and many other. If you do not wish to have rice, maybe you can order their mee goreng or other meals which normally you can get from mamak stall...

One good news for those big eater...Those white rice , the vegetable and the curry gravy(plain curry gravy only, no meats at all) are all refillable...and also the papadam...yummy...haha..they will come to you and asked you do you need anything...

But one thing....once after eaten, remember to drink more water...or drink coconut drink to cool yourself....lol...
