6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak

What a simple name for this restaurant.. 6 to 10 Grill & Nasi Lemak......mainly there are serving western food and their homemade nasi lemak.. To be honest, i always passed by this shop...but yet i dont have the chance to try it...all because i always saw the place is full house.

As usual the place is located around the housing area which I dont think much people will aware of the place too.... Anyway, that place have quite a number of nice and well known cafe or restaurant such as Food Foundry Cafe , Restaurant Choon Yien & My Elephant Thai Restaurant.

So, below is my foodies on that day:

Hot drink - Teh Tarik (RM3) & Barley (RM2)

Nasi Lemak- 2 dishes (RM11.50) - a consist of santan rice , peanuts and ikan bilis, sambals, egg, cucumber and 2 side dishes which is curry chicken and minced spicy pork...Personally i quite love the minced pork because it is flavouring to me together with the rice. Suppose we wish to hav the pork rendang(which seldom we can have outside) but somehow it is sold out that time. Next time, im sure go to try their it...

Grilled Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce (RM13.80) - consider quite a big portion. I was given 3 medium size chicken breast meat. The meat was grilled nicely and it just nice to have it together with the sauce.

Our dessert - Mix Salad with thousand island dressing (RM5)...yummy...

Food Foundry Cafe

After having a nice mille crepe at Malacca, I begin to love such cake....I checked online and get to know that there is cafe nearby my bf's house which did sell such cake...lol....so why wait more?? I had went to try it last weekend...

The cafe looks simple and no air-con but surprisingly the place is quite windy that time and I feel good even with just a fan. One more surprise, their menu is super simple whereby printed in a A4 color paper and clipped together....funny too...haha...

There are not much choices in the menu....so I go with Ice Peach Tea (RM3) while for him, a cup of Espresso (RM 4.50)...We have ordered 2 slice of mille crepe which is Vanilla and Chocolate flavour. Besides mille crepe, Food Foundry also did have brownies and other type of cakes...

Here are their mille crepe....

Vanilla Mille Crepe (RM8) - slightly smaller compare the one I had in Malacca...It looks more "wet"..might be due to the overload of creams in between the crepe...

Chocolate Mille Crepe (RM9) - this is more sweeter compare the vanilla flavour and too creamy which cause the cake to feel "wet"....and each layer of crepe slipped out and feel messy...

Anyhow, after this, I personally still prefer the mille crepe which I have eaten at Malacca. I hope to go there to try again to try more other flavour or bought a whole cake back to KL for my friends......If some of you did not have the time to go Malacca, maybe you can get it from here...at least, you know how a mille crepe would look like ....

Pitstop One Cafe

Yesterday while we have some time before our movie, we went to have our dinner nearby SS17. There is a quite new cafe being open for some time but i never really get to have chance to have my meal there. I think the reasons they opened there is due to the place is consider student areas. At a corner, i saw there are a lot of boards games being display...Erm, i saw like need to pay to play it...Anyway, just my bf and I, so not interest for the games...we just want to fill our tummy ...lol

Our drinks :

Honey Milk (RM4.90) - something which i felt i wont try it but i know milk and honey is good for our skins...haha..my bf order this. It actually milk being boiled and add in honey...become sweet and milky...

Honey Peach Tea - I love drinking tea actually. ..Any tea which is fruity or "flowery"...hehe...I got the habit that every noon, i will have a cup of green tea..It will make your mood feel nice and relaxing...and good for losing weight too..this drink is included in the nasi lemak set below.
Our meals :

Nasi Lemak Pitstop (RM12.90) - it is actually a set meal which included a drink. There are few other choice of drinks either cold or hot. The nasi lemak set is quite big portion. The plate is set with a rice, a big chicken drumstick...some sambal, ikan bilis, kacang , 1/2 pc of boiled egg, some "acar"- sweet and sour vegetable etc...I share it wit my bf..haha..
Tom Yam Vermicelli (RM9.90) - The soup still ok. Not too spicy but same have the sour tom yam taste...I add some onto my nasi lemak rice..haha..taste quite nice too... But as for my bf, he would prefer it to be more spicy...The portion is not as big as the nasi lemak...

Total bill is RM29.10 including service charge (5%).

I choose the set meal which i think it is more affordable. And it is good if you got student ID card because you can get discount for dining there...

Restaurant K.Intan

I just saw one of the review in a newspaper saying good about this wantan mee located this place. The place looks little bit old fashioned. Nothing fancy or expensive in term of their interior. Just like a normal coffee shop to me.
Based on the newspaper, they say the wantan mee is nice. So, me and my bf each order a plate of it. I can say the noodle is quite nice and quite special than other. No wonder they say it is homemade noodle. The "char siew" aka sweet BBQ pork, i think nothing much special....
As for the soup and meat dumpling, is also so so...To be honest, the dumpling skin is quite thick. So, when you eat it, you feel like you are eating the thick skin more than the meat.
Anyhow, if you staying nearby there, then is still a worthwhile place to have a simple noodle....

Restaurant Choon Yien

How do you all love "Char Siew" ?? I think it is called sweet BBQ pork...i think...hehe...i juz know eating only...My bf told me this place offered a nice and yummy "char siew" which im quite doubtly. The place is like below a flat...guess what is around somewhere nearby the My Elephant Thai Restaurant. My bf has been bringing me to there for few times but yet we dont have the luck because the "char siew" very fast finish.

I really noticed..when i came in and make the order, there are about 20-30pcs of "char siew" hanging but after a while, it just left 10pcs of it. surprise too. My bf who made the order has request for a rice for 2 person with mixed "char siew" and "siew yok"....When the food is served, then i only understand why the "char siew" so fast finish. The slice that the boss given is way too think/ big compare the one serving outside...To be honest their char siew is quite yummy too...tender and not too sticky to your teeth..hehe..

Below is the plate for a portion for 2 person dining in:

a plate of yellow butter rice with soup of the day....

yummy...can see how big slice is it?? is non-halal..pls...

The total bills came out slightly expensive which is RM17 but it is understandable when you judging the size of a slice of the meat they given. quite big in every slice.. yummy yummy.....Overall, i can saw many people queeing up to taste their "char siew". One more thing you may bring your own food container too, i saw some student doing the same......

My Elephant Thai Restaurant

After sick for almost a week more, finally i be able to have a nice n truly big meal last weekend. You would never know, I have been food poisoning last 2 weeks and the continuous last week, i was in fever and cough. But lucky it is not H1N1. But when i cough a bit, everyone is looking at me like an alien already....No choice...

So to fill up my stomach, me and my friends is actually decided to try this Thai restaurant which got quite a good review from the internet. You would never know there is such a restaurant in the housing area there. eh..look like a few block of old flat and this cozy restaurant is located just below a block. haha...Most of my friends are suprised to see it when they reach and asked me how i got to here...If you have the GPS like one of my friends, then it will be a lot easier to search...

Okler, let get back to my food....here are the orders...those guys lazy to pick the order and just left me and my other friend to make the order. Lucky some of the dishes is quite nice and we also ask for recommendation. But pls take note, most of the dishes is quite standard(small) which just suit for a table of 4-5ppls. That time, we ordered few more choices as we have 9ppls who will be dining in....let's see:

Our drinks

Krachiap Cooler - Thai Roselle Herbal Tea - a Vitamin C Booster & Cholesterol buster...quite nice to drink and and good for my current health...need a lot of vitamin to maintain my good health back.

Thai Iced Coffee / Tea - erm, nothing much special.. simple iced coffee / tea...

Mango Mojito - quite refreshing drinks. But bottom of the drink look like passion fruit to me instead of mango...top is soda drink.....

Our foods

Gai Tod Gratiam Prik Thai - myElephant’s special deep fried chicken strips with Kaffir lime leaf, garlic and crushed Thai peppercone. This is the waiter's recommendation to us.. Good and we love it too...

Tom Som Fish - clear galangal-lemongrass-Lime Soup with Aromatic Thai Herbs. Nice to drink but some of us feel the soup is quite hot when taken after few scoop. The soup is really clear and not like those tom yam we have other side. Thats y it called tom som le.. this is my 1st time heard of this word. Inside the soup, there is star fruit, tomatoes, garlics, gingers and mushroom. Good to hav it while it is still hot.

Thai Green Curry Chicken - No worry as this is not spicy at all. But i feel it full of coconuts milk and very creamy.... But make sure dont ate some of those which look like a green peas...It bitter...haha..coz i accidentality ate it.

Khai Jiao Homok Egg Otak-otak - it is their special egg omelette with Fish Otak-Otak and some slices of tomatoes. Indeed a quite small portion. Lucky we all still taste a bite of it. But i dont able see any fish otak otak..who ate it?? lol...

Tauhu Tod Preow Wan - Deep-fried Tofu with Sweet & Sour Sauce. This dish look like sweet sour pork to me and the different is pork in exchange with tau fu and with some tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. This is dish thatwe do not like it so much.....We thought it would be like deep fried tafu with Thai Sauce...

Jungle Vegetable of the Day : Paku Pakis - I think this green vegetable is very nice to eat especially when it stir fry wit belacan or dried shrimp. I think KL do not have this so much. But my bf's hometown have a lot. I get to know this vegetable from their family and it juz breed by it own behind their house...haha...

Brown Rice - to fill up our stomach with all the dish above....

Kanna Curry House

For those who love Indian food and can eat a lot...I think it should be a good place. Erm, im not sure this place could be so popular and i saw many people walking in to dine in. At 1st, i thought it is like a normal mamak stall but it actually more special.

It served banana leaf rice...Erm...1st time i ate rice with a just a banana leaf instead of a plate. Lucky they still given us fork and spoon.. But some may prefer to eat with their hand.. More tasty lol...

When we get our table, we make our order and they begin to place a piece of a big banana leaf on the table. Then slowly another waiter came and begin to pour the rice. Hey..they really given a lot of rice... Scary...i cant finish it too... Then they given a pot which have 3 type of plain curry gravy (i think is dal curry , fish / chicken curry gravy etc)...and you just pour into your white rice as you wish. Then another waiter came and begin to pour of what we called vegetable....the vegetable they have is cucumbers & onions, potatos etc....

Here is how it look like when everything is served on the banana leaf (RM4.50 )

Side order - prawn curry(RM10)

Beside this, they have other side dishes such as curry(chicken, mutton, prawn etc), fried chicken/ fish/ cuttlefish; and many other. If you do not wish to have rice, maybe you can order their mee goreng or other meals which normally you can get from mamak stall...

One good news for those big eater...Those white rice , the vegetable and the curry gravy(plain curry gravy only, no meats at all) are all refillable...and also the papadam...yummy...haha..they will come to you and asked you do you need anything...

But one thing....once after eaten, remember to drink more water...or drink coconut drink to cool yourself....lol...

Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant

Im sure some of the vegetarian eaters will know whereabout to have nice food for themselves. I have spotted this restaurant for some time but now i only have the chance to taste their dish for the 1st time.

When you 1st step into the restaurant, it is as usual, it nothing but like the normal chinese restaurant. On each wall, they have posted a note stating that their food is without MSG. This sounds fun and interesting.

We look into the menu and we found that there are actually a lot of choices we can choose. But it just too much till we did not know which one we need to eat. haha....So we just ask the lady boss to recommend us some of it.

Below is the orders:

Vegetarian Ribs with Honey(RM13) - this is so called vegetarian "Char Siew"..one of my fav dish in vegetarian style. The sauce is very well blended with the "meat" and it served with few soft white steamed buns..I jus put a few pieces of the "meat" and wrap with the buns...yummy yummy...im eating "Char Siew Bao"...vegetarian style...

Chicken Chop in Black & Pepper Sauce(RM12) - one of the latest and recomended dishes by the restaurant. Erm, the portion is quite big. But the black and pepper sauce is really nice to be eaten together with the so called "chicken vegetarian"...hehe...The dish is served with some salads. But if someone is not so fancy those pepper sauce which a bit spicy, then this is not the one i would recomend you. Maybe you can try their other dish.

Lastly and not to say is Stir-Fry Kai Lan(RM10) - a natural green vegetable cook with ginger which on top is sprinkle with some crunchy seeds...something like sunflower seeds or nuts.... If not mistaken, vegetarian is not allow to eat garlic...which i heard is not good for their health...So, all the dishes will not be cook using the garlic just like our normal dishes.

All the dishes is served with either normal rice or brown rice. And we have chosen the brown rice which is less calories.

We also given a free bowl of soup...not bad too!!

No worry, im sure be back there to try more dishes...with my vegetarian friends...possible!!
